Uji matcha
How to make matcha:
1. Add 1 g matcha to a sieve and sift into a bowl.
2. Pour in 50 ml water (80°C).
3. Whisk for 10–15 seconds in an W-motion.
4. When it’s foamy, it’s ready to enjoy!
Pure organic matcha & tea from Japan
Our organic matcha is sourced directly from Kagoshima, Uji, and Shizuoka, where we have worked with the same farmers for over a decade. It is crafted using traditional methods to achieve a smooth, rich, and authentic taste.
One of the key steps is shading the tea plants in spring before the first flush harvest in May. This process enhances the leaves’ umami flavour and deep green colour, thanks to increased chlorophyll production.
At Hug the Tea, we offer five grades of matcha and around ten varieties of organic loose leaf tea, all carefully sourced from Japan.
