RECIPE: Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte

RECIPE: Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte

Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte

Tools / Necessities:

  • Bamboo whisk (chasen)
  • Electric milk frother
  • Bowl (chawan)
  • Cocktail muddler
  • Drinking glass

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp Ceremonial Matcha or Premium Matcha (Blending grade)
  • 200 ml milk (tip: plant-based milk works great)
  • 5 large or 8 small strawberries (fresh or frozen) + optional agave syrup
  • 30 ml cold water + ice cubes

Instructions:

  1. Add the strawberries to a glass and mash them using a cocktail muddler (or a whisk). Make sure the fruit is finely mashed, forming a strawberry layer about 1/3 of the glass. Optionally, add a little agave syrup or honey if you prefer it sweeter.
  2. Froth 200 ml of cold milk in an electric milk frother. Most frothers have a cold setting; if not, simply use cold milk.
  3. Prepare a cold, thick matcha shot by whisking 2 tsp matcha powder with 30 ml cold water in a bowl using the bamboo whisk. Sift the matcha first if necessary to avoid lumps.
  4. Add ice cubes to the glass with the mashed strawberries, then pour in the cold frothed milk.
  5. Finally, pour the cold matcha shot over the milk and strawberries.
