In this blog, we want to share what we have discovered in the past six months about green tea. We are open now more than four months with our teabar in The Hague and several customers are coming back with positive messages about what green tea is doing with them. You can think of health benefits such as more energy during the day, increased focus, a more beautiful skin, better metabolism, no more abdominal discomfort and losing weight.
Sometimes the teabar seems a pharmacy to us. People walk in and ask if we have a tea that is good for high blood pressure, gastrointestinal disturbances, problem skin, a hangover, emerging cold or flu-like feeling. Green tea contains a lot of antioxidants (such as catechin ECGc) and vitamins that can contribute to better health and works preventive against various diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, obesity etc. In particular, ECGc catechin protects against free radicals, pollution, UV-rays, radiation of chemicals which can cause cell and DNA damage. Green tea helps to detox the body and to be purified of harmful substances.
One of our regular Matcha customers comes almost every day to drink a Matcha teashot. She is a Russian lady and has always hurry so comes in running, taking quickly a Matcha teashot and: gone! She said she is smoking less since she has been drinking Matcha. She can do half a day without any cigarette and has a lot more energy.
Another customer drinks Matcha as a coffee substitute in the morning and after her lunch. She has a busy job and Matcha helps her to focus throughout the day. A while ago she came to purchase Matcha again, because she went on a business trip for a longer time and wanted to have plenty of Matcha for that period. She told us that she also add some Matcha to her smoothie and shared two recipes with us:
• 2 granny smith apples,
• 1/2 sellerie,
• grated ginger,
• little lemon juice,
• 1 glass of water
• + a spoon of Matcha.
&
• 1/2 banana,
• 1/2 avocado,
• 1 kiwi,
• 60 ml coconut milk
• A little honey
• + a spoon of Matcha.
One of HUG THE TEA’s favorites Matcha smoothies has the following ingredients (see photo below):
• 1 Elstar apple or 1 kiwi
• 1/2 avocado
• 1/2 banana
• 60 ml coconut milk
• A little honey
• + a spoon of Matcha.
I have also experienced the health benefits of green tea. Since I drink Japanese green tea every day, I no longer suffer from abdominal discomfort. In Africa, I got a virus and one year later I still had problems with my stomach. The tropical doctor in the Netherlands has done several research, but nothing was specifically working. I have tried various things (such as fiberbags from the pharmacy), but unfortunately nothing really helped for the long term. It came back with flurries and could be very annoying. When we were working on setting up the new tea concept and brand HUG THE TEA, we also started to drink green tea daily. After 1-2 weeks, my symptoms were gone. I did not cheer too early, because it was more common back a while. But since that moment I absolutely had no more trouble. I have nothing else changed in my diet, so it is in my opinion really due to the Japanese green tea. The health benefits of green tea…I’m very happy anyway!

Regularly people ask us: Why did you choose specifically green tea from JAPAN?
