It is currently the ‘bestseller’ in our matcha bar: the Iced Matcha Latte, the cold version of the Matcha Latte. But, how do you make a nice Iced Matcha Latte at home?
Put 3 grams of Ceremonial or Premium Matcha (sifted through a small kitchen sieve) into a bowl. You can also mix Ceremonial and Premium Matcha together.
2. Add a little lukewarm water (about 40–50 ml). 3. Use the Matcha bamboo whiskto make a smooth paste, making sure there are no lumps. Alternatively, you can sift the Matcha directly into the bowl using a fine kitchen sieve to avoid clumps.
4. Whisk the Matcha with the bamboo whisk (called a chasen in Japanese) in a W-motion for about 15 seconds, until a nice foam forms on top.
5. Meanwhile, fill a glass with ice cubes and pour milk over the ice until it reaches about 2 cm above the rim of the glass.
6. Now gently pour the whisked Matcha over the milk and ice.
7. If you like it a little sweeter, feel free to add some honey or agave syrup.
Matcha Latte is a good and healthy coffee substitute, because Matcha contains a lot of theine and provides an energy boost during the day (about 6-8 hours). Theine works more gradually than caffeine, so you do not have an up and 30 minutes down again, as is the case with caffeine. In addition, Matcha is very rich in antioxidants (catechin EGCg), vitamins and minerals. It is a real superfood (or actually super-tea) with many health benefits! You can drink it purely, but also with milk.
